Psalm 117:1-2

Salutation

... in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.  Amen.  Through the prayers of our holy Fathers, Lord Jesus Christ our God, have mercy on us and save us.  Amen.  Glory to You, our God, Glory to You.

O Heavenly King: Prayer to the Holy Ghost

O Heavenly King, the Comforter, the Spirit of truth, You are everywhere and fill all things, Treasury of blessings, and Giver of life: come and abide in us, and cleanse us from every impurity, and save our souls, O Good One.

Psalm 117:1-2[1]

Praise the Lord, all nations.  Praise Him, all people: for His merciful kindness is great to us.  The truth of the Lord [is] eternal.  Praise the Lord.

[1] This brief Psalm exists for a single simple purpose.  It makes clear that God’s redemption is for everyone, not just for an exclusive few.  This universality exists only because of God’s great merciful kindness or love, which the psalmist observes is directed to us.  This is eternal truth, worthy of praise.  This raises two questions.
Why does The Church exist?  Both The Old and New Testament Church exist for one reason: in coming together to worship in the sacrament of the kingdom, The Church invites all to see God’s great Glory and worship Him.  This invitation is not about an abstract mythology, but about the concrete reality.  Faith has as its proper object, the reality of a recognizable person.  In the Old Testament Church this was the visible Glory resident in the Temple.  In the New Testament Church this is the same Glory resident in His people.  The gift of the Holy Ghost is available to anyone and everyone, just for the asking.  What a pity that all don’t earnestly and sincerely seek this great gift.
Why are all not converted and saved, since all have been redeemed?  As Psalm 116 shows, the table is set, and laden with the feast.  Free garments are even provided.  The answer appears to be that many will not come to the feast and refuse to eat from it; while others reject the free garments, and are condemned accordingly.  This is so unnecessary.  The gift of the Holy Ghost is free.  No one need feel coerced.  The Holy Ghost will lead them into all truth: so no one need fear either condemnation, or railing accusation.
